Peace

“Peace begins with a smile.”

– St. Mother Teresa

Reflection:

Peace. Peace is something we all deeply long for. Without a peaceful soul, it is hard for one to find meaning or joy.

Mother Teresa was God’s instrument of peace to the world. Every action of Mother exclaimed, “Peace be with you! You are so loved!”

Peace is a fruit of the Holy Spirit. This fruit is unifying, and stems directly from charity. Mother Teresa’s mission was to bring peace to the people around her by showing them the love of Christ. She, with the other Missionaries of Charity, focused on bringing peace to people through a simple smiling!

This simple action shows someone that they are loved, and worth appreciating in that moment. From this love stems a sense of peace, a sense of contentment and joy.

Peace is for all people, and is perhaps what Christ wants us to have most. When Jesus met his disciples for the first time after His Resurrection, His hope for them was simple: Peace.

“Jesus came and stood in their midst and said to them, ‘Peace be with you.’” (John 20:19)

Knowing that Jesus is constantly offering us His peace, let us be people of peace this week.

Challenge: “Smile at someone you don’t really want to smile at; do it for peace.” – St. Mother Teresa
